Alas, space has long been an object of scientific research and a sphere of military confrontation between the world’s leading powers.
Its “population” is constantly growing and will continue to grow. For example, if today there are about 8,000 satellites in near-Earth orbit, then a decade later, according to forecasts, there will be about 100,000 of them. And there is an explanation for this – our civilization is in total “satellite” dependence.
However, despite the most modern technologies, satellites are highly vulnerable. So a real invisible war is happening in near space, in which no one wants to be the loser. And just as on Earth, to win, individual countries unite in alliances.
Following the provisions of the national security strategies of the United States and Japan, in December last year, the governments of these countries decided to deploy a network of SDA (Space Domain Awareness) patrol satellites to protect commercial spacecraft.
The corresponding memorandum was signed by one of the largest US military contractors Northrop Grumman and the Japanese company IHI. At the same time, NG will develop satellites, and IHI will develop engines for them.
