Incredible in its capabilities, specialists developed the camera at Duke University. Its power is built using 54 lenses, each capturing the same object from different angles. Then all the received images are combined into one, which has a gigapixel resolution. In terms of detail, it exceeds the capabilities of consumer-grade smartphone cameras by 50 to 100 times and at least ten times the cameras of premium segment devices. In addition, such a photo array makes creating high-quality 3D images of any object possible. Due to this, it is possible to detect details that are not available when photographing with classic cameras.

Moreover, the array allows you to record three-dimensional videos. With its help, the researchers achieved an image area of ​​135 square centimeters. However, such videos create specific problems due to terabyte file sizes – to level them, it was necessary to develop algorithms based on machine learning that provides more efficient data processing.
